| The historic Sumaru residence consists
of a warehouse, which was built in the middle of the Meiji era and
a main house which was built in the Taisho era. The main house was
formerly home to the Watanabe family, who donated this property to
Shiroishi. The citizens of Shiroishi are committed to preserving and maintaining this important historical landmark. Consequently, Shiroishi Town Management Organization was established in February and its office was opened at the Sumaru residence in June. |
